The Endowment Fund
The Human
Development Commission has been “Helping People, Changing Lives”
in Michigan’s Thumb for the past 40 years. Through the provision
of numerous services, aimed at strengthening and empowering
low-income families and seniors, HDC comes to the aid of 18,000
people and 10,000 households annually. Services range from
emergency shelter, food and utilities assistance, housing
improvements, homeless prevention, children’s educational
programs and more. We serve the working poor and seniors on
limited incomes that are often not eligible for government
programs, but need the extra help to move ahead.
Unfortunately, the cost of sustaining our programs greatly
exceeds our government grant dollars. The retention of our
programs is vital to address the growing issue of poverty in our
area. This is why the Endowment Fund is so important. It
supports the HDC Mission and benefits those who need it most –
our children, seniors and low-income residents. Only the
contributions to this fund can help secure the future of their
programs.
While we
plan to implement some new fundraising ideas this year, we still
feel compelled to try one of our oldest attempts – asking our
communities for support. If everyone helps, we will be able to
assist hundreds of more people including our family, friends or
neighbors. For those in areas surrounding the Thumb, our
intention is to raise awareness of our organization and invite
them to our fundraising events. No matter where you live or do
business, please be a partner in our goal to reach out to more
people in need. Your support will demonstrate how much you want
to be a part of “Helping People, Changing Lives.”
